As avid golfers, my spouse and I love taking our clubs on holiday and exploring new destinations. Our main requirements are simple: the hotel must be all-inclusive, have a golf course either on-site or very nearby, and ideally be close to the beach. And if possible, we like to be able to walk the course using electric trolley’s rather than buggying.
We often booking holidays independently rather than relying on package deals, and our approach is straightforward. Using Google Maps, we search for golf courses and then look for nearby hotels, rather than focusing solely on golf-specific resorts. Over the years, this method has led us to some incredible all-inclusive hotels that cater perfectly to our love of golf and the sea.
Based on our travels, I’ve put together a guide to the ultimate all-inclusive hotels offering excellent golf experiences—whether included in the stay or discounted for guests—and all within easy reach of the coast.
· Makadi Bay: A Red Sea Paradise for Relaxation and Golf
· Punta Cana, Dominican Republic: A Tropical Golf Paradise
· Tenerife and Golf at Las Américas: A Perfect Blend of Relaxation and Recreation
· Sea Cliff Resort & Spa Zanzibar and Its Unique Golf Experience
· Barbados and Barbados Golf & Country Club: A Caribbean Escape
· Costa Almeria and Almerimar Golf Course: A Perfect Spanish Golf Retreat
We stayed in Barbados for our honeymoon and went to Almerimar for our first anniversary. Whether it’s the timing of these, or the superb hotels and golf, they are my two personal favourites!
Read on for more information about each destination.
· Makadi Bay: A Red Sea Paradise for Relaxation and Golf
Getting there: Hotel booked through hotels.com, flights through Easyjet. Private transfer by taxi, about 30 minutes
Jaz Makadi Bay
We stayed all-inclusive at the Jaz Makadi Bay Hotel, which was originally designed as apartments, so the rooms are absolutely enormous. Our private balcony overlooked the golf course, which was a real treat. Evening entertainment included a singer on some nights who was so bad it was actually entertaining!
The food was good, and there are plenty of other all-inclusive hotels within walking distance to suit a range of budgets. The golf course itself is part of the Steinberger Hotel, but since that isn’t all-inclusive, it wasn’t for us. However, guests staying in Makadi Bay enjoy reduced green fees, with even further discounts if you purchase three or more rounds in advance.
Makadi Bay Golf Course
The Makadi Bay Golf Course, situated within the prestigious Steigenberger Makadi resort, is a world-class destination for golfers visiting the Red Sea region. This 18-hole, par-72 championship course was designed by renowned golf architect John Sanford, offering a challenging yet enjoyable experience for players of all skill levels.
Set against the backdrop of the Red Sea and desert mountains, the course’s dramatic landscape combines rolling fairways, strategically placed bunkers, and water hazards, creating a layout that is both visually stunning and technically demanding. Spanning over 7,500 yards, Makadi Bay Golf Course is one of the longest in the region, yet its five tee box options make it accessible to players of varying abilities.
The signature 13th hole, a par-4 that requires precision to navigate a fairway bordered by water and sand, is a highlight of the course. Golfers can also enjoy the panoramic views from the elevated greens, which provide a unique perspective of the surrounding natural beauty.
The facility includes a fully equipped clubhouse with a pro shop, locker rooms, and a restaurant serving local and international cuisine. Practice facilities such as a driving range, chipping area, and putting greens ensure players can refine their skills before tackling the course.

The tropical landscaping, including palm trees and vibrant flora, enhances the course’s visual appeal.

· Tenerife and Golf at Las Américas: A Perfect Blend of Relaxation and Recreation
Getting there: Hotel through booking.com, flights through Jet2.com
Green Garden Resort Tenerife
We stayed at the Green Garden Resort and Spa, and upon check-in, we were told the golf course was a three-minute walk away—turns out, it was more like 30 seconds! Each morning, we’d stroll over to the course, enjoy our round, and be back at the hotel in time for our included lunch.
The food was decent—not the best we’ve had, but perfectly adequate for the price we paid. Our room was spacious, with a separate kitchen, bathroom, and living room, plus a terrace overlooking the 13th fairway, which was a lovely touch.
One day, we decided to try the spa and can highly recommend the couples’ chocolate massage—it was a real treat!
We stuck to Las Americas Golf Course for this holiday, as it was so convenient, but there are plenty of other courses in the area just a short drive away for those looking to explore more options.
